Putra Mosque & PMO

Before the "breaking of fast" at Seri Perdana.

Several student leaders from IPG Kampus Pendidikan Islam were invited to attend the programme. As we arrived a bit late, we were seated outside the main area but very near to the Putrajaya lake. The view of Putra Mosque and The Prime Minister's Office was beautiful.

Refurbished

My First TV

It was Football World Cup Series in 1982. I was renting at Hj. Jamal house at Kampung Lama, Benut, Pontian. Before i bought this TV, I used to crashed at friends' house at Benut town to watch TV programmes. Benut was a small town and located between Batu Pahat and Pontian. It was  "dead quiet" after 9pm then. For a local telephone call you have to "dial" 3 digit numbers only. For outstation calls, you must dial "9" before the required numbers.

My friends did not like football. The prefer basketball. For them the Football World Cup is "nothing". Since I have no savings, I have to agree with the price offered to me; RM1600 for a 16inch Toshiba Colour TV. Paid RM100 monthly. The cash price should be less then RM1000. There is no remote function. If you want to change the channel, you have to push manually the specific button. As I lay on my squeaky bed and lazy to get up, usually  I used a long stick to change the channel.

Last week, Anum, my wife, cleared the store room under the stairs. I forgot that I have kept the not functioning TV set all this while. The time have come for me to bid good bye to my beloved TV.

Iftar @ PWTC

** "Iftar" - an Arabic word that means "breaking of fast".

While all the guests busy breaking their fast, a group of  young boys from a local Tahfiz School performed three nasyids. Their performance was interesting.
Not all who attended the "iftar" fasted. The guy sat beside me at the "pegawai pengiring" table was understanding enough. Even though he was not a Muslim, he patiently waited for the Maghrib adzan like everybody else in the hall before having his evening meal.

The lucky selected Sabahan students who attended the "iftar" received RM50 each from the Sabah Chief Minister as "duit raya". As for me and few others "pegawai pengiring", we were given a box of dates and a big thank you.

Bad Mosquito

After more than 5 tries, I managed to "flattened" this mosquito. It kept flying back to suck my blood even after several of my failed attempts. There are many others in the bus with me.  Some are even sound asleep; tired, after completing a three days in-house training at Hutan Melintang. Why it chose me?

Precinct 9's Chu Chi Tunnel

A "Gotong Royong" activity was organised by the Al-Muhajirin Musolla Committee members last Saturday. I arrived a bit late. I noticed nobody [except for Lokman] is willing to go down the drain [tunnel] to flush out all the sludge that had accumulated for the past year.
Before: All Smiles

Inside the tunnel

Lokman & I being assigned to clean the tunnel
It was back breaking and hard labour. We could not work while standing up straight.  After a few minutes I had to go to any opening and relieve the pain on by back. Slept early that night after asking Fathiyah to use the portable messaging machine on by back.
Still clean: Not yet started on the
drain cleaning  job
.

My Reflection

As I walked to my parked car, I saw an Avanza drove into a narrow parking lot. The driver was an old Chinese guy. I was wondering how the driver would get out from his car.

He tries to squeeze his body out of his car.
His wife screams at him, "Get back into the car. Get out from the other side!" He just smiles and continues his struggles to get out from the unimaginable small space.

After a few minutes, he succeeded in his ordeal. He just smiles and walk away with his mumbling wife. Among the words that I heard his wife said is "You gave a lot of space for me to get out but not to yourself. And yet you still insist that the it was enough for you. Stubborn old man!"

I see myself in that old man.
