My First TV

It was Football World Cup Series in 1982. I was renting at Hj. Jamal house at Kampung Lama, Benut, Pontian. Before i bought this TV, I used to crashed at friends' house at Benut town to watch TV programmes. Benut was a small town and located between Batu Pahat and Pontian. It was  "dead quiet" after 9pm then. For a local telephone call you have to "dial" 3 digit numbers only. For outstation calls, you must dial "9" before the required numbers.

My friends did not like football. The prefer basketball. For them the Football World Cup is "nothing". Since I have no savings, I have to agree with the price offered to me; RM1600 for a 16inch Toshiba Colour TV. Paid RM100 monthly. The cash price should be less then RM1000. There is no remote function. If you want to change the channel, you have to push manually the specific button. As I lay on my squeaky bed and lazy to get up, usually  I used a long stick to change the channel.

Last week, Anum, my wife, cleared the store room under the stairs. I forgot that I have kept the not functioning TV set all this while. The time have come for me to bid good bye to my beloved TV.
