As I was reading today's digital e-media news, I stumbled upon this article. It was very interesting.
TV3's popular sitcom, Puteri, probably holds the dubious record of divorces among its stars and crew.
Two actors in the sitcom have either ended or are waiting for an end to their marriages.
Leading lady Nora Danish separated from her husband, Toh Muda Rizal Ashram Ramli, in August. What made her case so talked about was that she was pregnant and a certain celebrity was alleged to be the cause of the breakup. Nora dismissed the rumour.
Soon after, the sitcom's lead actor, Mohd Aszerul Nizam Abdullah or Beego, was in the news when his marriage to Intan Shahira Mohd Nazrul hit rock bottom. And the local tabloids lapped it up when the couple started airing their dirty laundry, including the time Intan admitted that Beego forced her to have sex while she was having her period. More recently, it was director Aziz M. Osman's turn in the spotlight when his short-lived marriage to Nor Radhiah Ramli got into trouble. The syariah court has yet to decide on Beego and Aziz's cases.
One of the more talked-about divorce cases was that of singer Farah Asyikin Zulkfili who separated from Dr Fariz Yahya. Unlike other celebrities, Farah did not hide the fact that her marriage was in trouble. But she refuted a rumour that a male reality show contestant was involved. She described him as a close friend. Singers Azharina Azhar, Siti Fairuz Sheik Mohamed, Norazlina Abdul Rahman, Tengku Anis Soraya Tengku Sulaiman, Charma Adizalilullah and Noraniza Idris also decided to break up this year for various reasons.
Two other divorce cases involving rockers Jamaluddin Elias, or Nash, of Lefthanded, and Mohd Radhi Razali, or Radhi OAG, are pending in court. Another well-known actress who became single again this year is Norish Karman.
Actor Nasrizal Ngasri's case was in the news because he sent an SMS to divorce his wife and followed it with another message wishing her "good luck".
Then, there is the case of celebrity couple, Norman Hakim and Abby Abadi. Things have been quiet in both camps as they try to settle the case in private.
