A Visit From An Old Friend

Khairani and I were classmates at Language Teachers' Training College in Lembah Pantai, Kuala Lumpur. With 28 others we managed to complete the PPAK Course by April 1981. I was posted to a chinese school in Benut, Pontian, Johor. Khairani was posted to her hometown in Kedah (if I'm not mistaken)
In yesterday's visit, Khairani brought along her very active 5 grandchildren. She is now a senior assistant in a primary school in Kulim, Kedah.

A New Experience

Yesterday I attended a court hearing at The Putrajaya Lower Syariah Court. A good friend was summoned by his former wife so that the monthly allowances for his three children be increased. The former husband ability to go for holidays abroad with his current family members and having a branded car was among the reasons given.
The hearing started at 2.30pm and lasted until late in the afternoon. It was indeed a good experience for me. I hope, wish and pray that my good friend; all the best for the next hearing in February 2012.

Emang Manang Ngomong Jowo

Looking at the title, "Parit Jawa" at first I thought it was a documentary. There is a place in Johore (between Batu Pahat and Muar) called Parit Jawa. From the name, we could guess that people who live there are Jawaness decendence (originated from Jawa Island, Indonesia).
It was a telefilm. Eman Manan and Ruminah Sidek are among the actors involved in the telefilm.
There are scenes in the telefilm that requires the actors and actress to converse in Jawa. For Ruminah Sidek, Jalil Hamid and few others actors who are Jawanese decendents, they do not have any problem. But for Eman Manan who is from Terengganu, it sure is a challenge. As a professional and good actor, Eman Manan has proved himself, he is capable to act in that telefilm.
Hopefully in the future if there is another "Jawa" film production, I would like to apply. I'm sure even though Eman Manan is better looking and can act better than me but I can pronounce the Jawaness dialogue with much better intonation and correct pronunciation.
